History and Companion Plants

Fruits and vegetables often make nice ornamental plants as well. ‘Red Ruby’ is an outstanding example. Although an occasional edible fruit is produced, its mainly used for its showy flower, glossy foliage and spreading habit which makes it a great container or ground cover plant.

In addition to container gardens, use ‘Red Ruby’ around the base of Clematis, Ornamental Grass, Peachleaf Bellflower (try Campanula ‘Chettle Charm’), Delphinium and Violet Sage (try Salvia ‘Indigo’).
