BENEFITS
'Gardener's World' comes to us from the garden of Christine Stott at Buckinghamshire, England. Its name is that of the popular magazine and BBC TV program, which featured it as a study of how a new plant enters the market, from discovery to promotional launch.

Formerly Coronaria tomentosa, the straight species has high-wattage magenta flowers and an unfortunate tendency to self-sow in the garden. 'Gardener's World' represents tremendous improvements on both scores: The flower is larger, with a far more refined and attractive color, and it is sterile. It will bloom where it's planted - period.

BLOOM SEASON & HABIT
From late June into August, the upright plants bear clusters of deep, rich red flowers. Fully double, the 1½ inch blooms resemble miniature carnations, contrasting beautifully with silvery, wooly foliage on erect stems. Flowers appear for about six weeks.

LOCATION
Full sun to light shade. USDA Hardiness Zones 4 to 9; AHS Heat Zones 7 to 1. See our Growing Zones page to reference growing zones in your area.

SIZE
Flowers 24-26" tall, foliage 20" tall. 10" spread in 2 years.

CULTURE
Like other silvery, wooly plants, performs best if foliage is not kept wet. Good drainage is essential to successful overwintering. Some support may be required. Also see our General Planting Tips for more information.
