History and Companion Plants

The genus Rudbeckia contains numerous North American native plants including the ubiquitous wildflower, the annual Black-eyed Susan. This genus was named to commemorate the famous Rudbeck father-son pair of Swedish botanists.

'Viette's Little Suzy' was selected from the test garden at André Viette Farm and Nursery in Fishersville, Virginia. Plants combine nicely with Purple Coneflower (Echinacea Purpurea), Russian Sage (Perovskia atriplicifolia), Monkshood (Aconitum sp.), Garden Phlox (try Phlox paniculata 'Eva Cullum' or 'Franz Schubert'), Bee Balm (Monarda didyma) and Ornamental Grasses.
