History and Companion Plants
The "×" in ×Heucherella indicates
that this genus is a hybrid of two different plant
genera. In this case the parents were a variety of
Heuchera and a variety of Tiarella. Plants in this
new genus have larger and more numerous flowers than
either parent. ‘Quicksilver’, developed
by Charles Oliver of Scottdale, PA, received the
Marcel LePiniac International Award for Plant Breeding.
Nice companion plants include
Crane’s Bill
(try Geranium ‘Ballerina’ or ‘Laurence
Flatman’, Catmint (Nepeta), Lavender (try Lavandula ‘Blue
Cushion’), Sundrops (Oenothera), Pink Panda
Strawberry (Fragaria ‘Pink Panda’), Gaura
(Gaura lindheimeri) and Torch Lily (try Kniphofia ‘Bressingham
Comet’. |
