As the name implies, 'Viette's Little Suzy' is a Black-eyed Susan but in a petite size. There is sure to be renewed interest in the Rudbeckia genus, named for the father-son pair of Swedish botanists, because Rudbeckia ' Goldsturm' is the Perennial Plant Association. s Plant of the Year for 1999. 'Viette's Little Suzy' is a hardy dwarf relative and will make a nice addition to any size garden.

Beautiful dwarf plants combine well with Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea).

Russian sage (Perovskia atriplicifolia), Monkshood (Aonitum sp.), Garden Phlox (try Phlox paniculata 'Eva Cullum,- 'Franz Schubert'), Bee Balm (Monarda didyma), Ornamental Grasses.

Benefits. Wonderfully suited for border fronts, mass plantings and patio containers.

Bloom Season and Habit. Deep yellow flowers bloom from midsummer to midfall when foliage becomes mahogany as cool weather approaches.

Location. Plant in full sun. Normally hardy in Zones 4 to 8.

Size. Twelve to 14 inches tall, 15 inches wide; four to six plants per square yard.

Culture. Plant in average, well-drained soils. Divide in spring every four to five years as needed.
